Andrew Bartolini directs the College of Engineering’s First-Year Program, which features a two-course sequence of engineering courses for approximately 500 students, with a diverse set of instructors representing each department. He also leads a team of over a dozen undergraduate first-year engineering student assistants.

He conducts engineering education research related to first-year engineering programs. He studies methods to boost students toward academic success, assists students in making an informed program of study decision, and engages students in hands-on learning environments through the inclusion of makerspaces in the curriculum.
