IN-KY Symposium

Notre Dame competes annually in the ASCE Indiana-Kentucky Student Symposium, commonly referred to as "conference" by our members.
The symposium is a three-day event consisting of build, design, and presentation competitions, as well as technical and professional workshops and networking events. Students from colleges and universities across both Indiana and Kentucky compete in the symposium in competitions such as Concrete Canoe, Steel Bridge, Timber-Strong Design Build, and much more!
At the 2026 ASCE IN-KY Student Symposium, Notre Dame finished in second place overall behind 10 podium finishes in the 13 events! The Steel Bridge team also qualified for the AISC / ASCE 2026 National Student Steel Bridge Competition. You can read more about the second-place finish with individual event-by-event breakdowns here.
The Notre Dame Student Chapter won the Great Lakes Regional Conference in 2021 and the Indiana-Kentucky Student Symposium in 2022 and 2023.
Notre Dame has previously hosted the symposium in April 2025.
