Timber Strong

The ASCE Timber-Strong Design Buildâ„ Competition involves designing, modeling (in Revit), prefabricating, and constructing a wooden structure within specified design and load parameters.
The competition is supported by the following organizations:
On the day of the competition, each team races to construct its structure within 90 minutes and must pass a load test to ensure its structural integrity.
For the past several years, the structures the Timber Strong team has built have been two stories tall, with a cantilever beam and a second-floor overhang.
In 2026, the team's build resembled a Notre Dame-themed castle and earned second place at the Indiana-Kentucky Student Symposium, the highest finish in team history! Notre Dame was also the first team to complete construction of its structure.
Below are more pictures from the construction of the castle!
